WWC build up
Well I got a place at the 2010 World Carp Classic and my fishing partner is my good mate Jim from Lancashire.
The reason I feel that I want to fish this grueling event is to proove to myself that I can do it and to show other disabled people that if you want to do something you will find a way.
Martin Cronin who has fished this event before is helping me prepare by giving me tips on tackle etc…and he is also fishing the event again this year.
Martin from 1999
I meet too many people who for one reason or another end up in a wheelchair and say that their life is over and then they have a chip on their shoulder. Many people just get on with their lives which is the way it should be. So it’s for the people who think that life is over that I want to do this for….
The event lasts from 3pm on the monday and finishes at 8am the following saturday…so we fish for 5 nights and 6 days…I am tired just thinking about it.
So what will I be doing between now and then?
Well I have to learn to get in and out of an inflatable while holding a rod and playing a fish…I am sure that Jim will get some great comedy shots when that happens….so I firstly need to find somebody kind enough to either lend me a boat or donate one to my organisation so we can use it for other things.
We are looking for an inflatable between 8 and 12ft long with oars and if its a good make then on a trailer would be better…there is so much to do and little time to do it as I have other matches going on and the Reels on Wheels Festival….so I will continue this in the next day or so.
