Aims and Donations
:: The primary aim is to help the disabled and those needing assistance to return to fishing. Nationally we will collect and collate names and contact numbers of people needing our help and assistance, and people willing to give that assistance. These will be cross referenced and introduced through the "Buddy" system register.

:: The secondary aim is to offer advice and guidance in general to fisheries and venues in regards to access and suitability for the disabled angler. Where appropriate we will refer them to an appropriate advisory agency in their area.

:: The third aim is to (where ever possible) promote angling as a healthy, beneficial pastime for everyone, regardless of experience or ability. This will be done by supporting less privileged groups enabling them to participate in organised events. This will be done by offering to conduct "Angling for all" seminars to schools and youth clubs.By offering to conduct "Angling for all - It can be done" seminars and demonstrations to disabled clubs and assiciations.

::Please help us to make a difference, your donation will be put to good use no matter how big or small. Thank you.

OK here goes This was posted on a major forum and being in a wheelchair myself I though it would be interresting to see what feedback it got…..

You are fishing a River from a nice flat peg near to a roadside pathway, you have been there since dawn and now it is afternoon. The fish have really been playing ball with Barbel to 9lb being caught and plenty of good Chub, you have had a great day’s fishing and are still catching – it is a red letter day for you.  NOW a car pulls up near the river and out gets a man; he opens up the back of the car and gets a wheelchair out for his disabled friend. After they get ready to come down to the River to fish,  the man politely comes down to your peg and asks a big favour of you.
He points out that his friend cannot fish anywhere else except from the peg you are fishing from, because he is wheelchair-bound and needs a flat surface to be safe, and it is impossible to wheel him over the rough ground to another peg in safety.  Now you know that a bit further down the River bank is another good swim, but not flat so it would be ok for you to use but not him. The question is this: Do you say, ‘no problem mate, he can fish off this peg’. I have had a good day and know of another good peg,’  OR do you say, ’sorry but i have spent a lot of time baiting this swim up and money and I am not going to let someone else fish it and reap the rewards of my hard work.’

Now I am sure you get the picture and your comments will be very welcome. Let’s just say the ones from a few on the other site have shocked me a little….what would you do?

I woukld be happy to give up my peg and go to the other swim, I have a severely differently-abled grandson, my partner is disabled and but for the “Grace of God” etc etc.

I would view it that I had already had an excellent days fishing and if my efforts at baiting the swim and keeping it going helped the guy in the chair to have a good day too………….then that would be all the better.
